George Vargas
Was Born on 18 September 1984 in Athens. As a son of a rocker, he got in touch with music from his early years. The piano courses he took in his childhood showed a promising talent in music. Since 1996 and with the release of Leftfield’s album Leftism, his attraction for electronic music was born. As a result, after the completion of his studies in naval architecture and marine engineering, he decided that it was time to do something that he always wanted, taking courses in electronic music production. Meanwhile his passion for music continued to evolve, so DJing became part of his life and developed through events in numerous cafes and clubs in Athens. Buzz, Mamacas, Bronxx, Akanthus, Hive, Aroma just to mention a few. In April 2013 he performed along with Henry Saiz at Mamacas bar, at the spaniard’s gig there, for his visit in Athens, with remarkable success.
Since 2011 he is also a radio producer for F Radio broadcasting, on a weekly basis and hosts his live radioshow called “Resident” inspired by Hernan Cattaneo, which he interviewed in June 2013. So far, his chill-out, deep house & progressive sounds, on his radio show have always been something special for his listeners. His sets are also played by other international radio stations such as Monkey Radio in India, Prime FM in Hungary, ClubMu in the USA, welovemusicradio, 2Underground and Golden Wings Music Radio in Argentina, where he hosts a monthly radioshow called “Relentless”, Pills radio, Akroama FM, Best Radio (Kos 101.1FM), Radio Must & Elixir Radio in Greece. Along with his devotion to music, his musical inspiration originates from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Nick Warren and Paul Kalkbrenner, as well as other Greek and foreign DJs, give his DJsets and productions a special and unique sound.
As far as music production is concerned he has delivered in 2011 a remix for Michel de Hey for his remix contest of his track “Curly wurly”, in 2012 a remix of the track “Grasshopper” from dPen & Nick Varon as bootleg and a remix of “Russian lights” for Kenneth Thomas’s remix contest. Currently he is working in 2 remixes on the tracks of dPen & Guy J along with 2 other remixes of tracks from his friends in Argentina, and an original track with his perspective of house music.
